Seed Oils
Hi Fiona,
Just looking at vitamins etc & was wondering if you have an details on capsules being safe & not made from seed oils as well? “Vegetable Glycerin” is what’s written on most bottles for fish oil tablets.

Hi Joel
My answer is probably longer than needed, but I’m gonna say it all anyway haha….
So, vegetable glycerin is a little different to vegetable oils. It’s typically made from plant fats/oils and processed into a sweet, syrup-like substance that’s often used in capsules, tinctures, and supplements as a carrier or humectant. (Still crap though!)
That said, if you’re trying to reduce highly processed ingredients overall, it’s always worth checking the full ingredient list, as many supplements contain additional fillers, flow agents, and additives beyond the active ingredient itself.
It’s also worth remembering that many of the nutrients people take fish oil for can often be obtained through food too. Things like sardines, salmon, mackerel, herring, oysters, and other seafood are naturally rich in omega-3s (we’re commonly very low in omega-3s), along with providing protein, minerals, and other nutrients that work together as nature intended!
Personally, I always like to look at food first where possible, then use supplements to fill genuine gaps if needed.
Hope this helps mate.
